DUALNETS – Dual identifiers as bridges in social networks

Compact Network Interface

Within the DUALNETS project, we designed and developed a new compact network interface (CNI), a visual software that enables the collection of ego-centered networks, whole networks, and cognitive social structures without interviewer assistance on smartphones. The aim of the CNI is to measure social networks – which is a tedious and time-consuming process for participants – in a quick, fun, and simple manner.

The CNI was designed in co-creation with game design students at Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht. The design was presented at a workshop on social networks in Mannheim in 2023 and demonstrated at the Sunbelt conference 2024 in Edinburgh.
